Welcome to Auto-Insurance Resources. Our purpose is to provide you with the most complete collection of automobile insurance information available anywhere on the web.

In many areas, it is illegal to drive without auto insurance, although in a recent poll by whatcar.com, a whopping 20% of those replying admitted to driving without insurance.

Its a mistake to believe that just because you are a good driver, you don't need to have insurance. Even if you're the best driver in the world, that doesn't mean that all of the other motorists on the road are. Accidents can happen at any time and regardless of who is at fault, you will be breaking the law if you don't have the minimum car insurance coverage.

Lowering your auto insurance costs

As the old saying says, it pays to shop around. This is never truer than when it comes to purchasing car insurance or renewing a policy. We’ve compiled our top 8 tips for getting the most policy for  the money when it comes to automobile insurance:

  • Comparison shop, on the phone or using one of the many online insurance websites which compare rates. Rates will vary depending on insurer, if you have the time try to get about five different quotes for your insurance.
  • Consider increasing the deductible you would pay should you have an accident. Raising your deductible may often lower premiums by 10-30%.
  • Investigate different types of auto insurance companies. Certain insurance companies may specialize in specific categories, for example young drivers, classic cars, etc.
  • If you’re shopping for a new car, always compare rates for various models before completing your purchase.
  • Determine whether having multiple insurance from the same company, say auto and home insurance, qualifies you for a discount.
  • To get the cheapest car insurance, check for special discounts available from your insurer such as anti-theft, drivers-ed, non- smoking, etc.
  • Purchase from a auto insurance provider selling direct to  consumers rather than thru a broker. This cuts out the middle-man and often provides additional savings.
  • Eliminate duplicate insurance. If you already have a separate medical policy, you may also be paying for it in your auto policy. Check with your agent.
